The next generation is leading the Newcastle Toastmasters Club

A diverse team of committee members and supporters are leading the Newcastle Toastmasters Club for the next generation.

Jemma Skewes has been serving as Vice President of Education as she completes her teaching qualification. Joseph Nolan supports all committee members’ responsibilities beyond his role as Club Secretary, dedicating time as he also studies surveying.

Mark Casey shared his vertical video expertise with the club before travelling, having already gained a following in the architecture industry. Members are exploring multimedia skills in ways that are revolutionary in the traditional Toastmasters community.

The more established members are allowing space for vibrant new talent. Melanie Suzanne Wilson, Club President, sees an opportunity for all members to get involved. Melanie originally joined Toastmasters International in 2010 and is supporting new members’ innovative ideas. Andrew Patey-Dennis continues serving as Club Treasurer after years of involvement in the club. Harold Pradhan generously serves as Vice President of Membership, balancing duties on the side of his career as a periodontist. Tina Jafari demonstrates relatable technical presentations as a hydrogeologist.

Brian Prior presented in his final hosting role in the September 2023 Humorous Speech and Table Topics (Impromptu Speaking) Contests before he retired from official membership of Toastmasters International. Brian gradually had been gradually handing over to the current cohort in recent months.

The current committee is planning and leading future events - such as the October 2023 Open Night, Evaluation and International Speech Contests, Christmas Party and Speechcraft.

We continue meeting on the first, second, third, and fourth Thursdays of each month. All are welcome to visit and join.
