We invite current and past members, friends and followers to attend our events. We host Christmas parties, mid-year changeover celebrations and themed nights.
Public Speaking Competitions
Our club holds four public speaking contests each year: humorous speeches, evaluation, Table Topics, impromptu speaking and the International Speech Contest.
Public speaking contests
Newcastle Toastmasters Club members can participate in speech contests. Ask our Vice President of Education about eligibility requirements. Anyone can attend in the audience of these contests.
Humorous Speech Contest
Whether contestants are experienced comedians or simply giving it a try, members can participate in the Humorous Speech Contest.
Table Topics Contest
Who can think on their feet and get the best answers to questions or topics? Members stretch their impromptu speaking skills in these quick 1-2 minute speeches.
Evaluation Contests
One ‘test speaker’ aka ‘target speaker’ will present a prepared speech. Evaluation Contest speakers give encouraging feedback to the speaker, sharing their commendations and recommendations with the audience. Everyone can learn techniques by viewing the contest.
International Speech Contest
Members prepare a speech with purpose and powerful techniques. Will these speeches impact the audience’s lives? Who will progress to compete with other clubs in the area and potentially the division, district and at the international convention?

Mid-Year Changeover
The changeover is an opportunity to thank the outgoing Club Executive Committee, induct the incoming committee, present awards to members and celebrate the club’s overall success.
Christmas
All are welcome at our festive Christmas parties to celebrate the end of the year and the Aussie summer holiday season.
